Langtang Region is the most proximate trekking destinations located only 130 km north east of Kathmandu in the Rasuwa district of Nepal, bordering Tibet, wearing snow capped mountains like Langtang Lirung (7,245 m) on the north, the highest of the region, Yala Peak (5,520 m) with Jugal Himal and Dorje Lhakpa (6,989 m), Ganja la pass (5,122 m) to the south making it a handsome and adventurous trek at the same time. Lang tang region holds the inexplicable beauty of Tibetan highlands, snow-clad mountains, majestic lakes such as Gosainkunda (4,380m), Parvatikunda and Dudhkunda.The scenic beauty of the region is just one side of the coin because the Tamang Heritage Trail, which is an inseparable part of the region providing an opportunity to explore and get insight into the very old Tamang culture, lifestyle, livelihood, craftsmanship, costumes and their uniquely built stone houses.

Langtang Lirung Langtang derived its name from Langtang Lirung, subrange of Nepalese Himalayas, its highest peak which was first summited by Seishi Wada and Pemba Tshering in 1978 Japanese-Sherpa Expedition.The region is famous among amateur summiteers due to the availability of a range of peaks to get a taste of Himalayan mountain ranges like Yala peak.The mountains here serve as a natural training camp for rock climbing and ice climbing.

Langtang National Park Langtang region is maintained and protected as Langtang National Park since 1976, exceeding on an altitude of 6450 m extending in 26 different VDCs of Rasuwa, Nuwakot and Sindhupalchowk district with a total area of 1710 sq.km.The region has summer southwest monsoon climate, with precipitation from June to September, spring with warm days and cool nights in October to November and April to May but clear, mild days and frozen nights from December to March.The national park is famous for high flying birds, the endangered red panda feeding on dense bamboo forests, migratory birds, deers, monkeys and tahr. The national park is also rich for its freezing lakes like Gosainkunda, Parbatikunda and Dudhkunda formed by at least 70 glaciers .

Although the Langtang Trek takes us to the Tibetan Highlands, do not mistake the Tamang people for Tibetan as they look alike because they are but, of course the descendants of Tibetan, with the originality and purity of Nepalese heart,art and culture, which evidently comes to ones understanding through the live statements the lifestyles,dress code, Tamang houses influenced by Tibetan style.

Itinerary

  • Day 1. Arrival and Transfer to hotel

    Arrival at Tribhuwan International Airport. Welcome, airport assistance, and hotel transfer by our airport representative. You will be briefly guided about the hotel, city, trek route, and gears on the very night.

  • Day 2. Drive to syabrubesi 1460m

    Syabrubesi is 122 kilometers away from Kathmandu. Syabrubesi is the gateway to the Tamang Heritage Trail. After 6 hours of jeep ride on the Trishuli highway, we reach Syabrubesi.

  • Day 3. Trek to gatlang 2238m

    On the first day of the trek, we hike to Gatlang (2200m). After 6 to 7 hours of the hike, we reach Gatlang, a small Tamang village in northern Nepal. The major holy attraction of the Gatlang village is Parbati lake with a spectacular view of Ganesh Himal, Goljung valley, and the Gosainkunda range.

  • Day 4. Trek to tatopani 2607m

    On the second day of the trek, we hike to Tatopani which will take us around 7 hours. The trekking trail is beautifully forested with ascending and descending routes.
    The hot water spring in Tatopani has disappeared due to the massive earthquake in 2015 so sadly you will not be able to experience a natural hot water spring.

  • Day 5. Trek to nagathali 3165m

    Nagthali is a wonderful viewpoint for snow-capped mountains. On the third day of the trek, after a delicious Tibetan breakfast, we hike to Nagthali. We can see wonderful sunset in between Ganesh Himal ranges, Langtang Lirung range, and Sisapamba range.

  • Day 6. Trek to briddhim 2229 m

    On the fourth day of the trek after a heavy first meal, we hike to Briddhim which will take us approximately seven hours. The trekking trail is followed by the Bhotekoshi River. Briddhim village is a lovely place for homestays.

  • Day 7. Trek to syabru besi 1460m

    On the fifth day of the trek, we descend to Syabrubesi which will take us around 3-4 hours.

  • Day 8. Drive to Kathmandu 1350m

    After a great cultural trek in the mountainous region, we drive back to Kathmandu.

  • Day 9. Free day

    The day is free for you to rover around the Kathmandu valley, a World Heritage Site tour, do the souvenir shopping, or stay indoors in the hotel room.
