Dolpa is the largest district of Nepal fenced in by the Dhaulagiri and Churen Himal in the western part of Nepal bordering with Tibet.
Shey-Phoksundo is an oligotrophic lake in Western Nepal. The lakeside is filled with Buddhist stupas. The trekking trail is accompanied by rivers, streams, pine forests, monasteries, suspension bridges, passes, valleys, and beautiful villages with unique architecture. The trek starts from beautiful villages furthermore leading to beautiful forests and then heaven on earth- Shey Phoksundo Lake. The trek commences from Juphal (2490m) to Shey-Phoksundo (3600m) taking an arduous route from Dunai to Dajog Tang (4080m) via Tarakot, Lahini, Naworpani, Sim Odar, Do Tarap, Pelung Tang, Dajok Tang. And the trek descends from Shey-Phoksundo to Shyangta and Juphal.
It is said that Shey-Phoksundo originated 40,000 years ago according to myths that has been further backed up by scientific researches. Geologically, it is said a river was blocked by an enormous post-glacial mountain and thus Shey-Phoksundo originated. The river found an outlet that has become a beautiful waterfall, which itself is among one of the many beauties of Nepal.
